Hi, my name is Karen. Welcome to The Lemon Grove Cake Diaries a blog about baking and desserts with a few savoury recipes thrown in.

I studied patisserie at Southbank Tafe in Brisbane, Australia and was awarded student of the year.  I worked briefly in the pastry kitchen of a 5 star hotel, but now I am concentrating on my own cake design business: The Lemon Grove Cake Company.

There are hundreds of recipes I want to try so my blog is a way of keeping track of them. I plan to test, adapt and develop recipes. For those of you who are new to baking there is a Tutorials page that will provide a step by step guide to key techniques.

Just for a bit of fun, I have challenged myself to complete what I call the great “Paris Postcard Challenge“.  I will update the Paris postcard page whenever I complete another part of the challenge.

My recipes will be in metric and I recommend that ingredients are weighed using digital scales to ensure consistency.

If you would like, you can also follow me or ‘like’ me on Facebook and/or on Pinterest.

Happy baking!

Karen, Your creations look and sound delicious! I don’t bake, but I’m a foodie with great taste. Pity I didn’t get to experience your baking first-hand, but the pix (did you take them; if so, you’re very good!) make them all look fantastically scrumptious. I wish you loads of luck this year for your new business and have no doubt you’ll succeed. Remember: It’s all in the marketing. Cheers from Melbourne! It’s a Follow!

Thanks Janina, the photography is a bit of a team effort – my husband takes the photos and I assist by giving him cake! Thanks so much for the good wishes we are in the process of marketing at the moment.

Great idea, beautiful work! Trying to find out how to fold a paper pyramid, like the ones in French patisseries, any suggestions?

Hi Valerie, Thanks for the lovely comment and visiting my blog. Sorry, I have never made a paper pyramid, the place I worked didn’t use them. I have noticed that there are a few tutorials on line about how to make a paper pyramid but I’m not sure if that is the same type that you are looking for.

Great blog! I’m a savory cook first and baker second so this all looks so impressive. I’m signing on! (And thanks for following my blog).

I’ll be posting soon about my first (and only) wedding cake. It was an overwhelming project for me and convinced me that it is too stressful. Sent me scurrying back to savory cooking. I’ll look forward to your comments….
